From a mother’s love to a passion for natural skincare.

I never set out to start a skincare business. I was simply a mom trying to help her son.

My journey began when my son was struggling with eczema. We tried what the doctors recommended, but nothing seemed to give him the relief we were hoping for. As a mom, it’s hard to watch your child struggle and feel like you’re running out of options. So, I decided to try something different.

With my background in farming and agriculture, and my Métis roots, I’ve always had a deep appreciation for nature and what the land can provide. Going back to those roots just made sense to me.

What started as a mission to help my son quickly turned into a passion for researching natural ingredients, traditional uses of herbs, and the science behind skincare. I spent countless hours learning about beef tallow, exploring the properties of different herbs, and experimenting with formulations using ingredients I already had around the house and herbs I’d grown in my own garden.

My family became my very willing (well, mostly willing!) group of product testers.

After plenty of research, trial and error, and tweaking recipes, my All Purpose Balm was born. Seeing how well it worked for my family was incredibly rewarding. My husband was so impressed that he suggested I start selling it.

And just like that, the idea for a business began to take shape.

But what would I call it?

That answer came from my son, who casually suggested “Mom Magic”, because, in his words, “It’s basically magic, and it’s made by Mom!”

And honestly, how could I argue with that?

What began with one little jar of balm soon grew into a collection of tallow-based skincare products. I started developing new balms, experimenting with different herbs and ingredients, and eventually took the plunge into cold-process soapmaking.

I’ll admit, making soap from scratch was more than a little intimidating at first! But once I got started, I absolutely fell in love with the process. There’s something so satisfying about taking simple, thoughtfully chosen ingredients and transforming them into something beautiful and useful.

Today, Mom Magic Herbals offers a growing collection of handcrafted tallow-based balms and soaps, made with the same curiosity, care, and attention that went into that very first jar.

I’m constantly researching, experimenting, dreaming up new ideas, and finding inspiration in the plants and ingredients around me. What started as a solution for my own family has grown into something I’m incredibly proud to share with others.

At its heart, Mom Magic has always been about family, a connection to nature, and the belief that sometimes the simplest ingredients can make something truly special.

And while my product collection continues to grow, one thing will never change: every new creation still starts with the same love and determination that inspired that first little jar.

After all, it’s not really magic. It’s just made with love.
